How long does a US entry waiver last?

Entry Waivers are issued for periods ranging from six months to five years. However the most common term issued is one year.

A US entry waivers is not a permanent document. Like a passport, this is something that will need to be renewed.

Who needs a US entry waiver?

You will need an entry waiver if any of the following apply to you:

  • You have EVER been refused entry at the border.
  • You have overstayed your time in the US (over 6 months without status)
  • You worked illegally in the USA

It can take anywhere from four to nine months to revice a US Entry Waiver.

In total the entire application and approval process can take anywhere between 12 to 18 months.

Will a Canadian Pardon exempt me from needing a waiver?

You may still need a waiver because the United States Customs do not recognize a Canadian Pardon.
